Illustrator Interview: James Lloyd

James William Alma Raphael Lloyd has made the cover art for The Very Most’s single on EardrumsPop.

He is a graphic design student who secretly wants to be an illustrator and you can see his work here: www.jameslloydprojects.tumblr.com.

This is our illustrator Interview with James Lloyd:

What are you working on right now?

I have been invited to contribute some art to a group show here in Boise. The theme is bicycles so it should be pretty fun

traditions, ethnicity and socio-economic conditions and also buy cialis canada Hypogonadism leading to testosterone deficiency.

. I am working on that and various school things.

What are your favourite tools?

I like mechanical pencils with white erasers and my computer when it is running right.

Please tell us about the process of making the EardrumsPop-cover! Is this the way you usually work?

I started by listening to the songs on the release way too many times and I came up with this sort of New Orleans funeral imagery
. Then I did a lot of scribbling which was eventually refined into a clean line drawing. After my hands cramped up, I scanned it into the computer and the computer did the rest of the work. This is about normal as far as my current illustration goes.

Who / what are your greatest visual inspirations?

My little sister

. She is four. She draws crazy stuff, but it is so pure.

Is music or other forms of art an inspiration? If so, what do you listen to?

Movies, cartoons and music are all inspirations for my art
. Strangely enough, I like to draw in silence but I have been listening to Granddaddy’s “The Software Slump” a lot. I know… it is old.

What’s your favorite color?

I do not have one; there are too many to choose from. If I had to choose it would probably be blue because I am a boy.

How did you develop your style? Is it different now than when you started?

My style comes from me trying to figure out how to draw cool things without reference material
. It is something I have been working on forever and it keeps changing. I taught myself how to draw by pouring through comic books.

What are your future plans? Any exciting things you are looking forward to?

I am not really sure. More school I guess
. I would like to imagine myself meeting the coolest people and drawing for them.

What question and answer would you like to end this interview with?

Do you keep a crappy blog that is not updated enough and contains little information and lots of images?  Yes I do. Thanks for asking. You can find it here: www.jameslloydprojects.tumblr.com

Your stuff is pretty stellar 😀
I love the fact that you get the idea of what to draw based on the music, i never thought anyone else did that but me. I’d love to do the kind of drawings you do, but maybe in comics or posters. Again, great stuff 🙂
