(The artwork for Volume B, handmade by Julia Pax and Ronald Scharf as a collaboration).

After months of work, we are FINALLY happy to announce the release of EardrumsPop’s collaboration compilation Between Two Waves. All songs are made as collaborations between bands, two of the artworks are made as collaborations between illustrators, and we’re a nice team behind it all who have collaborated for several months making it.

Most of the bands have chosen new names for their projects, so you may not recognize the bandnames at first, but look at the tracklist and in the beautiful booklet (made by Julia Pax), and you will see who is behind the projects.

We hope you enjoy the music, and please tell us what you think. If you like it, please send your friends over here too!

You can download the albums here:

The original post about The Handshake may probably be a bit much to digest, so here are the FACTS about it (For those looking for the latest news about the project, see the bottom of this post).:

WHAT IS THE HANDSHAKE? AND WHAT IS “BETWEEN TWO WAVES”?
THE HANDSHAKE has been the working title for the new EardrumsPop-compilation. BETWEEN TWO WAVES is the NEW TITLE for the album. BETWEEN TWO WAVES is a COLLABORATION COMPILATION, where all bands included will make songs together with other bands. The cover art will also be a collaboration between two illustrators, and I am collaborating with some nice, music interested people on the administrative work: Stefan, Tim and Leena.

WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED, WHEN IS THE DEADLINE, HOW MUCH WILL IT COST, AND WHERE CAN WE GET IT?
Two deadlines: All biographies and text for the pdf must be sent to us by 31st of JANUARY, but we do not need the song before FEBRUARY 28-2010. The album will be released early MARCH 2010, and like all our releases it will be digital only (no cd) and free for all. The only place to get it is here on this website.

HOW WILL IT SOUND?
We actually have no clue, which is a bit scary. The only thing we know is that it will sound “Warm and melodic“. We have asked bands in several genres, – folk pop/acoustic, indiepop/jangly pop, electronic pop, accessible experimental +++. We already know that it will sound good!

CAN I CHOOSE MY COLLABORATION-PARTNER MYSELF
Yes, that’s what we prefer. If you don’t have a partner, we can try to help, but the best is if you can find someone to work with yourself.

A PDF-BOOKLET?
Yep, – we always make a booklet with artist biographies, links and photos. We want to promote the artists the best way we can, and the listeners can read about the artists while they listen, and maybe head over to the artists’ website to find more music from the same band.
This time a professional illustrator will make it for us, so it will probably be a lot nicer than our previous pdf’s.

WHAT WILL YOU PAY THE ARTISTS?
There are no money in this project, only expenses. We can’t pay anything to the artists or the illustrators, other than with our HUGE THANKS and the promotion this will hopefully give the artist and the fun and challenge of making the song.

WILL THE ARTISTS STILL OWN THE RIGHTS TO THE SONG, AND CAN I USE IT ELSEWHERE?
YES and YES. We like to say that the song is yours and we only borrow it for the compilation. We prefer, of course, to be the first to make it public, but again, – you’re the boss, you own it. What you do with the song after our release is none of our business, and personally, I would like the songs to be heard by as many as possible.

INTERESTED IN BEING A PART OF IT?
Read the big info-post and contact us at once! Our contact details can be found under “Contact” in the top menu.

HOW TO SUBMIT THE SONG AND THE INFO?
You can either do it directly via email, or use our convenient form here on this website to submit all info in one go.

FOR THE SOUND-PROS: WILL YOU MASTER THE SONGS, AND WHAT LEVEL WILL THEY BE MASTERED ON?
We will not master the songs, but we will do some sound-levelling afterwards. This is just basic adjusting with some free software called MP3Gain. We did this on Birdsongs, Beesongs too, and it sounded very good. It’s just to make sure that all songs have almost the same volume-level. The songs will be on a level close to 95dB. And btw, I am NOT a pro…

ANY NEWS TO TELL US?
Yes, I think so. We decided that we needed a new title after we had seen “The Handshake” so many places during our project. The new title, “Between two waves” can have so many meanings, and all of the four members in the team had different interpretations of it when we discussed it. We had lots of titles on our list, but after a long process, we ended up with this one. We still call it “The Handshake” behind the scenes, though

We are working hard with this project at the moment, and there are already lots of confirmed, interesting artists + several who are still considering. Some songs have already arrived, and they are all very good! Our shortest list is actually the ones who have said no. The first illustrator is ready to help us with one of the covers + the pdf, Julia Pax from Germany. We are very happy about this! At the time of writing this, we are trying to make up our minds on the title of the album, – which is not easy at all…
