Lowpines are from west London, where songs are written in a clutter of guitars, amps and keyboards, in a dusty studio looking out at the trees. Inspired by Sparklehorse, Bonnie Prince Billy, Smog and Eels, these are songs with a quiet defiance, made in a hidden corner of the city.

We have encouraged the single-bands to make a cover version of a song they think deserve more attention. Lowpines have chosen to cover “It’s Not Happening”, originally performed by The Be Good Tanyas.

The Be Good Tanyas are a Canadian folk music group formed in 1999 in Vancouver
Their influences include folk, country, and bluegrass. The style of music they performed can be referred to as alt-country or Americana. The band has released 3 albums, “Blue Horse”, “Chinatown” and “Hello Love”

. The band’s members are Frazey Ford (guitar, vocals), Samantha Parton (guitar, mandolin, banjo, vocals) and Trish Klein (guitar, banjo, vocals).

At the time of writing this (July 2012), the band will soon release “A Collection (2000-2012)”, which is a 16-song career retrospective. The collection includes two brand new tracks, “Little Black Bear” and “Gospel Song,” and two new mixes of previously released tracks.
